Sergey F. Garanin

Sergey F. Garanin was born in Ostrov, Pskov region, Russia, in September 21, 1947. He received the M.S. degree in theoretical nuclear physics from the Moscow Physical Engineering Institute, Moscow, Russia, in 1970, the Candidate’s degree in physics and mathematics from the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Experimental Physics (VNIIEF), Sarov, Russia, in 1985, and the D.Sc. degree in physics and mathematics from the Institute of Mathematical Modeling, Moscow, in 2000. Since 1969, he has been working with the VNIIEF and is currently a Chief Scientist. His research has included physics of radiation and matter interaction, atomic physics, plasma physics, ultrahigh magnetic fields physics, and hydrodynamics. Dr. Garanin is a member of the International Steering Committee of the Megagauss Conferences. He was a recipient of the A. I. Pavlovsky Prize (2016) for “Outstanding achievements in the field of magnetic cumulation.”
