Sergei Manzhos is Associate Professor at the School of Materials and Chemical Technology, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan. He received an M.S. degree in radio physics and electronics from Kharkiv National University, Ukraine, in 1999 and a Ph.D. degree in chemistry from Queen’s University, Canada, in 2004, under the supervision of Hans-Peter Loock. He served as a Postdoctoral Fellow with Tucker Carrington at the Department of Chemistry, University of Montreal, from 2005 till 2007, and as Project Assistant Professor at the University of Tokyo, Japan, from 2008 till 2012. During 2012-2019, he was working as Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the National University of Singapore. He was Associate Professor at the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique (INRS), Centre Énergie Matériaux Télécommunications (EMT) in Varennes QC, Canada, in 2019-2021 before joining Tokyo Tech. His current research interests include computational modeling and design of materials for advanced types of solar cells and optoelectronic devices and electrochemical power sources including fuel cells and batteries, as well as machine learning, theoretical spectroscopy and theory of molecule surface reactions. His areas of expertise also include ab initio methods, molecular dynamics; molecular potential energy surface reconstruction; non spectral methods for solving the Schrodinger equation, non-adiabatic processes, and photodissociation dynamics.
