Subir Kumar Sarkar (SM'09) received the B.Tech. and M.Tech., and Ph.D. (Tech.)degrees from the Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics, University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India, in 1981, 1983, and 1999, respectively. He was an Executive Engineer in Oil and Natural Gas Commission from 1982 to 1992 before coming to teaching profession. From 1992 to 1999, he was a Faculty Member in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur, India. In 1999, he joined the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, where he is currently a Professor. He has published three Engineering text books and more than 260 technical research papers in archival journals and peer-reviewed conferences. Under his guidance, 13 students have been awarded the Ph.D. (Engg.) degree and eight more are presently pursuing Ph.D degree. His research interests include the areas of simulations of nanodevice models, transport phenomenon, single electron and spintronics devices and their applications in VLSI circuits, low-power VLSI design, ad hoc wireless networks, wireless mobile communication and watermarking. Dr. Sarkar is a Technical Program Committee (TPC) member of several major international/national conferences/symposiums and was the Organizing Secretary of the International Conferences on Communications, Devices and Intelligent Systems (CODIS2004). As a Principal Investigator, he has successfully completed four R&D projects and two more are running. He has visited several countries like France, UK, Switzerland and Japan for Technical reasons like training, presenting papers or visiting sophisticated laboratories. He was invited as a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the Deptartment of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Virginia Commonwealth University to work on quantum computing, spintronics, quantum dot memory and electronic transport in nanostructures.
