I have always been curious and eager for knowledge. I decided to study physics because I like to go deep into details and I wanted to understand the fundamental mechanisms that govern our world, everyday life and high-tech devices. In addition, I wanted to improve my natural mathematical and analytical skills and at the same time gain excellent technical and scientific qualifications. I was very attracted by the technological marvels of modern experimental physics, brilliant inventions that have always driven the progress of the world. I decided therefore to take part in the ALICE International Collaboration and be engaged in one of the major experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).

I contributed to the development of new type of high-technology particle detectors and electronics, from the construction and test of the first prototypes to the successful exploitation of very large and complex devices. I coordinated the ALICE Collaboration Physics Working Group responsible for the detector calibration and since January 2012 I coordinate the ALICE Collaboration Physics Analysis Group devoted to the study and interpretation of light-flavour hadron production with the ALICE experiment in LHC collisions. My current research activity focuses on measurements of hadron and resonance production in proton-proton, proton-lead and lead-lead collisions at the LHC aiming at characterizing the properties of the produced hot matter. I personally carry out the analysis of the data collected within the experiment and I also study the results in terms of statistical production and hydrodynamic transport models.

I am definitely satisfied of having succeeded in my goals with an outstanding academic performance and a fruitful research experience. I am still looking forward for something new and exciting at the same time to contribute to future innovation.
