Sven Hildebrand

I'm deeply interested in neuroanatomy, especially in the neocortex. To investigate the structure of this incredibly complex sheet of tissue, I'm developing whole-mount labelling and optical clearing methods, which render the tissue transparent. The aim is to investigate these very large, transparent samples at the mesoscopic scale (mm to cm) with advanced light-microscopy (and other) techniques. My dream is to ultimately map and compare the cortical architecture of different mammalian species.
