Over 30 years of drug discovery and development experience (24 years at Merck) from bench to leadership position with increasing responsibilities covering wide therapeutic areas including strategies for program executions- anticancer, cardiovascular, hypertension, anthelmintic, antiparasitic, coccidiostat, antimalarial, immunoregulant, anti-diabetics, antiviral including HIV- with last ten years concentrating in the discovery and development of antibiotics to treat bacterial resistant infections. Discovered platensimycin and platencin as FAS inhibitor and rationally correlated liver specific FAS inhibition with glucose lowering and repurposed platensimycin as antidiabetic agent; discovered kibdelomycin and thiazomycin(s) as oral Clostridium difficle agents.
