Rossana Damiano received her Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Torino, Italy in 2001. She is an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Torino, Italy. Her research interests range from virtual agents to interactive storytelling, with a focus on emotion modeling and expression. Her interdisciplinary research activity is documented by several papers, published in international peer-reviewed journals and conferences. She has been actively involved in a number of projects in the field of cultural heritage, where agent technologies and semantic technologies were employed in conjunction with new media to provide new forms of dissemination and to develop novel paradigms of user experience. She took part to the DramaTour project (2006, avatar based guided tour on mobile devices), Animatricks project (2010, virtual agents for the production of linear animations), 150 Digit (2011, executable virtual learning environments), Cadmos (2012, Character based Annotion of Dramatic Media Objects), Labyrinth project (2012-2014, cultural archetypes for multimedia publishing, principal investigator). She currently is local coordinator of the SPICE Eu Project for the University of Torino (G.A. 870811, 2020-2023).
