I am also a practicing physician with a major interest in both research and education. I am a founding editor of Comprehensive Clinical Nephrology and also have been funded by the NIH where my research focuses on the cause of kidney disease, high blood pressure, the metabolic syndrome and obesity. My research has included studying the role of diet and especially fructose snd sugar, as well as the role of uric acid. I also am involved in climate change, the mysterious epidemics of kidney disease occurring in Central America, and in archeology snd it’s interface with climate and medicine.
