Richard H. Valente

Senior Researcher at Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (https://portal.fiocruz.br/en/foundation) and Deputy head of the Laboratory of Toxinology, with post-doctoral experiences at the University of Virginia (06/2000-02/2002) and the University of Southern Denmark (06/2013-05/2014). Possesses extensive training in protein chemistry techniques, especially in protein purification and physico-chemical characterization, and mass spectrometry applied to both discovery-driven proteomics and structural biology (cross-linking MS and hydrogen-deuterium exchange MS). Dr. Valente has been working in the Toxinology field for his entire carreer; his major contributions were to the study of natural inhibitors of snake venom toxins and to the field of snake venom proteomics/peptidomics (proteopeptidomics). During his career, he coordinated eight research grants and has participated in several others.
