Reese E. Jones

Robert E. Jones was born in Kansas City, MO, in 1944. He received the B.A. degree in physics from Kansas State University, Pittsburg, and the Ph.D. degree in physics from Iowa State University, Ames. After teaching for a year in Germany, he became a Research Associate at Lakehead University, ON, Canada, where he later joined the faculty. During 1978–1984, he was with the faculty of the Physics Department, University of Colorado at Colorado Spring, and then with Inmos Corporation, where he lead interconnect development. In 1988, he joined Motorola, Austin, TX, where he is now a Fellow of the Technical Staff. His research interests include new materials technologies for integrated circuits, including silicides, ferroelectric memories, high-k dielectrics for memories and capacitors, quantum-dot memories, and integrated photodetectors.
