Yerbanga Rakiswendé Serge

Dr Yerbanga R Serge, PhD in Environmental Sciences and Public Health, entitled: “Validation of traditional remedies employed to prevent malaria and identification of plants with potential to block the transmission”; has specific interest and expertise in Transmission Blocking drug and vaccine testing. Under the supervision of Dr. Annette HABLUETZEL and Pr Fulvio Eposito, Dr Yerbanga focusing his research on in vivo antimalarial efficacy studies of plant extracts using the rodent malaria model: In particular he is evaluating the prophylactic and transmission blocking activity of molecules and extracts derived from Azadirachta indica and their potential to be used in drug combinations with current drugs. His is involved in the EU FP7 project “TransMalariaBloc” since 2008 with University of Camerino (Unicam) and IRSS. Since August 2010 Dr Yerbanga is responsible for the in vitro and in vivo screening of plant extracts, and the infectivity assay of malaria at IRSS-DRO.
