Career Trajectory
Bio
Raffaele Mazziotti received the master’s degree in experimental psychology from the University of Florence, Florence, Italy, and the Ph.D. degree in basic and developmental neuroscience from the University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy, in 2014.
He is currently a Research Fellow in Psychobiology with the University of Florence. He is a neuroscientist and a data scientist known for his substantial contributions to our understanding of the brain’s role in neurodevelopmental disorders. During his Ph.D. studies, his focus was on uncovering the psychobiological mechanisms governing ocular dominance plasticity and depth perception. In addition to his research on neural development, he dedicated himself to the development of translational biomarkers for various diseases. He employed a range of imaging techniques, with a particular emphasis on investigating hemodynamic responses to visual stimulation in several neurodevelopmental disorders. Throughout his academic and research career, he strived to integrate rigorous quantitative methodologies from experimental psychology and neurophysiology to comprehensively study and characterize behavior in animal models. This approach led to the discovery of novel mechanisms in physiological development and the discovery of translational biomarkers for neurodevelopmental disorders.
