During that year, supervised by Dr. Enrique González (CIEMAT), a small team of 3 students developed a full Geant simulation of detector for a Tau Charm factory that was to be built in Spain. In 1993 I moved to DESY (Hamburg). Under the supervision of Dr. Fernando Barreiro (UAM) I joined the ZEUS experiment. I focused on the study of open charm mesons in the photo-production and deep inelastic scattering regimes of the ep collisions provided by HERA. This was the subject of my PhD thesis. I returned to DESY as a Research Associated working in the design and construction of two new small calorimeters to be placed down the beampipe for low-Q2 event tagging and to improve luminosity measurements. I continued with studies of charm at HERA.
In 2001 I joined UB, under the direction of Dr. Lluis Garrido, and entered LHCb at CERN. I worked with the local engineers in the readout electronics for the calorimeter and took a leading role in the distributed computing system of the experiment.
I am main author of the DIRAC interware for distributed computing, and founding member of the DIRAC Consortium (initially formed by CERN, CNRS-CPPM and UB, extended to IHEP (China) and KEK (Japan), and in expansion with Montpellier (France), PNNL (US) or JINR (Rusia) in the queue) for the development and promotion of DIRAC.
