Post-doctoral researcher at the University of Barcelona and Scientific Nutrition Project Manager of the consolidated group (2017-SGR-01717) Cardiovascular Risk, Nutrition and Healthy Aging at IDIBAPS, with more than 70 original articles in indexed journals such as JAMA, Circulation Research, J Nutr, Am J Clin Nutr., NEMJ, Diabetes Care, Nutr Metab Cardiovasc Dis, etc. My main lines of research are: 1) Effects of the Mediterranean Diet on the prevention of cardiovascular disease, cancer and neurodegenerative diseases; 2) Effects of the Mediterranean Diet on classical and novel vascular risk factors; 3) Effects of wine, olive oil, nuts, tomato and cocoa on the lipid profile, oxidative stress and biomarkers related to arteriosclerosis; 4) Effects of chronic alcohol consumption on the cardiovascular system, liver and nervous system; 5) Mechanism of the protective effects of moderate consumption of wine and beer: effects on the expression and function of adhesion molecules and chemokines related to the development of atherosclerosis; 6) Effects of different types of alcoholic beverages on the immune system. With regard to diet, nutrition, primary prevention, cardiovascular risk and health, I have extensive experience in dietary and lifestyle interventions such as the PREDIMED study (7447 participants with high cardiovascular risk, 5 years of follow-up), the PREDIMED-PLUS study (6874 participants with Metabolic Syndrome, 6 years of follow-up), MEDICAR project (14,000 employees of the SEAT company), Si! Project (1,200 adolescents) or the IMPACT study (1,200 pregnant women with intrauterine delay). In addition, I have participated in various conferences of a scientific nature such as the Barcelona School of Hospitality (CETT), the Foundation for Wine Research and nutrition, Center Català de la Nutrició (CCNIEC) or the Torribera Mediterranean Center. In addition, I am a member of the Royal Academy of Sciences (Madrid) and the SEN (Spanish Society of Nutrition). I am also the scientific coordinator for the Mediterranean Diet Foundation. In my teaching activity, I can highlight the direction of various Master's Final Projects associated with various official Master's degrees such as the Master in Nutrition and Metabolism, Translational Medicine, Official Master's Degree in Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Nutrition, Chronic Diseases and Healthy Aging, Master in Cardiovascular Risk and Biomedicine, all of them from the University of Barcelona. Also, I have directed various final degree projects (TFG) for students of the Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Barcelona. In addition, currently, I am the Coordinator of the Master of Cardiovascular Risk, Nutrition and Aging, in which I also participate as a coordinator and teacher of various assignatures. Also, I coordinate and teach the Nutrition subject of the Biomedical Sciences degree. To date I have supervised a doctoral thesis and have two more in progress.
