Pooja Jha

I am presently working as the Editor-in-Chief of The Lancet Regional Health – Europe. Prior to this role, I worked at Nature Research in Berlin as an editor of Nature Metabolism and contributed to the launch of the journal since 2018. I have a BSc degree in Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, and an MSc degree in Medical Molecular Biology and Human Genetics from India. I obtained my PhD in Molecular Medicine at the Medical University of Graz, Austria, where I investigated the role of adipose tissue and liver cross-talk in NAFLD progression in the lab of Michael Trauner and Gerald Hoefler. Over time, I had become fascinated with the power and potential of genetic and bioinformatic approaches used in biomedical research. Therefore, for my postdoctoral work in the lab of Johan Auwerx at EPFL, Switzerland, I shifted my focus to a holistic systems genetics and OMICS approach to study metabolic diseases/functions. I used these approaches to study mitochondrial supercomplex biology, exercise physiology, aging, and QTL mapping of lipids and metabolic traits. I am passionate and enthusiastic about following and learning scientific developments in all disciplines.
