Peter Gray

My research focuses on pathways that regulate normal stem cell function and that are co-opted by tumors. I aim to determine how the oncofetal protein Cripto and its signaling receptor GRP78 promote maintenance of normal stem cells and to establish the role of the Cripto/GRP78 pathway in tumorigenesis using mouse models of human breast and prostate cancer. I am also developing new antagonists of Cripto/GRP78 signaling for use as research tools and therapeutics.
