I am researching the role of alpha-synuclein in Parkinson's disease using patient-derived iPS lines carrying pathogenic mutations in the SNCA gene. Here, I directly differentiate iPSCs to midbrain dopaminergic neurons and astrocytes to determine morphological and functional phenotypes. I have generated CRISPR-Cas9 gene corrected patient lines and have established a partnership for screening and phenotypic rescue. Currently I am working on Asyn at the Mitochondrial associated ER membranes (MAMs).
