Bernie Pauly is a registered nurse, researcher and educator. She is a Professor in the School of Nursing at University of Victoria and a Scientist at the Canadian Institute for Substance Use Research. Her research focuses on reducing health inequities and promotion of health equity in public health systems informed by critical social justice perspectives. Her current projects include the application of a health equity lens in public health systems and services, implementation and impacts of managed alcohol programs, cultural safety to reduce stigma and prevent harms of substance use, end of life care for structurally vulnerable populations, implementation of overdose strategies, harm reduction policy, and integration of harm reduction and housing.
