Bio
Paulo Vinicius Koerich Borges (M'08) received the B.E. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from Federal University of Santa Catarina, Florianopolis, Brazil, in 2002 and 2004, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from Queen Mary, University of London (QMUL), London, U.K., in 2007.
In 2001, he was a Visiting Research Student in the subject of image restoration with the University of Manchester, Manchester, U.K. from 2007 to 2008, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher with QMUL, working on several European Union IST projects on the subject of video event detection. He is currently a Senior Research Scientist with the Autonomous System Laboratory, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Brisbane, Australia. He also holds an Adjunct Lecturer position with the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, University of Queensland, Brisbane. His research topic is visual-based robot localization and pedestrian tracking. Other interests include video event detection/classification, video tracking, and digital watermarking.
