His major research areas are valvular disease and cardiac effects in malignancy. He has been the recipient of the European Research Council Consolidator Grant to develop new antithrombotic coatings of prosthetic heart valves
Professor Lancellotti has served as both president of the Belgian Society of Cardiology and editor of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC).
He is an expert in cardiovascular imaging, valvular heart disease and interventional structural heart disease. He is the past Chair of the European Society of Cardiology Council on Valvular Heart Disease and is involved with several journal editorial boards. He was an Associate Editor of the European Heart Journal and is currently an Associate Editor of the European Heart Journal of Cardiovascular Imaging.
Dr Lancellotti has been published in more than 330 peer-reviewed papers, has written numerous book chapters and has edited and co-edited some major cardiology textbooks.These include the ESC Textbook of Cardiovascular Imaging, the EACVI Echocardiography Textbook, the EACVI Handbook of Echocardiography and Secondary mitral valve regurgitation.
Dr Patrizio Lancellotti is on the Editorial Board of European Cardiology Review.
