He has over 30 years experience in the area of Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems and is Editor-in-Chief of the Artificial Intelligence Journal and a EURAI (ECCAI) fellow (European AI Association). He has over 185 refereed publications in diverse areas of AI and Autonomous Systems. His main areas of interest are knowledge representation, automated planning, intelligent autonomous systems, collaborative systems and multi-agent systems. A major area of application is with unmanned aircraft systems and their use in emergency rescue, in addition to crisis informatics. His research group has successfully designed and deployed many autonomous UAV systems and won a number of international competitions pertaining to UAVs and to automated planning. He has also given many keynote and invited talks at leading international conferences such as IJCAI, KR and ECAI.
