Career Trajectory
Bio
Dr. Palyam Subramanyam is graduated from the energy and environment group, Chemistry Department, IIT Hyderabad, India. , He is currently an Assistant Professor at Hokkaido University, Japan. He has considerable expertise in Photoelectrochemistry for solar energy conversion with special emphasis on photo-electrocatalysis for hydrogen production and photovoltaics. His strengths are synthesizing narrowly-sized distributed semiconductor nanocrystals and quantum dots, plasmonic-nanostructures and to understand charge carrier and electron transfer dynamics. He has tremendous experience in operating and maintaining sophisticated instruments of world-class repute like: UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, Fluorescence Spectrophotometer, Steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy (nanosecond, picosecond, and femtosecond laser systems), Single-particle fluorescence microscopy and spectroscopy, Raman Spectrometer, Incident photon current conversion efficiency (IPCE) measurement, Gas Chromatography [Varian and Shimadzu with TCD, FID], Physi-sorption (BET) adsorption apparatus, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD),Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), Hydrothermal synthesis (Parr reactors), Photo reactor setup, Microwave synthesis reactor Atomic layer deposition (ALD), Helicon sputtering system, Filmetris F20-UV, Multiple sputtering systems, Laser microscopy and Electrochemical Techniques [ Linear sweep voltammetry, Amperometry, Impedance and Mott- Schottky]. He had excellent academic and research background throughout his study career and published 22 international journals during his doctoral and post-doctoral studies. At present he is working on photoinduced electron transfer in perovskite quantum dot-acceptor systems and the construction and optimization of perovskite solar cells.
