Peter M. Schlag ist onkologisch spezialisierter Chirurg. Schwerpunkte seiner Forschung sind multimodale Therapie-Verfahren und computerunterstützte Techniken in der Chirurgischen Onkologie bei gastrointestinalen, Weichgewebs- und Brustdrüsen-Tumoren sowie Lebermetastasen. Darüber hinaus die Optimierung und Individualisierung onkologischer Diagnostik und Behandlung mittels innovativer molekularbiologischer, immunologischer und laseroptischer Strategien.

Dr. Schlag has received numerous honors; among them are the Anita and Cuno-Wieland Cancer Prize in 2005 and the Wilhelm-Warner Prize for Cancer Research in 2003. Dr. Schlag is a member of the EORTC Gastrointestinal Cancer Study Group and the EORTC Soft Tissue Sarcoma Study Group. Additionally, he is a member of the Editorial Board of Recent Results in Cancer Research, Journal of Cancer Research and Clinical Oncology, and the Annals of Surgical Oncology.
