Pradip Gatkine

Pradip Gatkine received the B.Tech. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai, India, in 2014, and the M.S. degree in astronomy from the University of Maryland, College Park, MD, USA, in 2016. He is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree in astronomy at the University of Maryland. His photonic research focuses on the development of next generation of astrophotonic instrumentation for upcoming large telescopes. His current work involves the development of moderate resolution astrophotonic arrayed waveguide grating spectrographs and studying OH-suppression for astronomical telescopes. On the astrophysics side, he is interested in studying the early universe, especially using gamma-ray bursts as probes. He is currently working on studying the circumgalactic medium in the early universe. He is a member of the International Society of Optics and Photonics and American Astronomical Society.
