Chiko Otani

Chiko Otani received the B. S. degree in physics from Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan, in 1990, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in astronomy from the University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan, in 1992 and 1995, respectively. Since 1995, he has been with RIKEN, Miyagi, Japan. He was a Researcher with the Cosmic Radiation Laboratory, Image Information Division, and Kawase Initiative Research Unit. Since 2005, he has been a Team Leader of the Terahertz Sensing and Imaging Team. Since 2013, he has also been a Group Director of Terahertz-wave Research Group. His research interests include terahertz sensing, imaging, and industrial applications as well as the development of superconducting quantum detectors of millimeter to terahertz waves for astronomical and cosmological observations.
