There, he studied the influence of splice factor genes mutations in haematopoiesis, and gained interest on research on multiple myeloma genomics. His work on myeloma genomics has been mostly focused on characterizing the genomic spectrum of alterations in this malignancy, and on the study of heterogeneity and clonal evolution from diagnosis to chemoresistant samples. In Milan, he is working as a clinician and is continuing research in the field of genomics of haematological malignancies, with particular focus on the evolutionary aspects of multiple. He is currently recipient of an ERC consolidator grant on pre-clinical and pre-malignant evolution of plasma cell dyscrasias.
