I am medical entomologist and the head of a research group working on Lyme borreliosis at the University of Strasbourg, France. Since more than 20 years, I work on tick-borne diseases (TBDs) to elucidate the role of the host skin during pathogen transmission by ticks as well as the role of tick saliva in pathogen virulence. By help of in vitro models using human primary skin cells, and mouse models, we investigate the role of the skin immunity in the physiopathology of tick-borne diseases.
