Nancy H. F. French

Nancy H. French has been involved in applications of remote sensing to ecology and vegetation studies for more than 25 years. Her current research interests include the study of forest ecosystems and the application of remote sensing techniques to ecosystem studies, developing approaches to use satellite data to monitor the spatial and temporal patterns of wildland fire and its impact on terrestrial ecosystems and the carbon cycle. She is a Co-Principal Investigator for the Fire and Smoke Model Evaluation Experiment, which aims to improve operational smoke modeling through a multidisciplinary science-based experiment at large prescribed burns across the U.S., and the Principal Investigator for MichiganView, which is a part of AmericaView, a nationwide partnership of remote sensing scientists who support the use of Landsat and other public-domain remotely sensed satellite data through applied remote sensing research, K-12, and higher STEM education, workforce development, and technology transfer.
