Nadia Andrea Andreani

I am Nadia Andrea Andreani and I am a microbiologist. I have gained wide research experience in different topics of microbiology since my PhD in Veterinary Science. This experience concerns mainly medical, food and environmental microbiology, metabarcoding, shotgun metagenome sequencing, Whole Genome Sequencing and bioinformatics, but I also worked with microbial genetics, animal stem cells and virology. I am currently a Postdoc in the Baines Group (Group Evolutionary Genomics) at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology in Ploen where I moved in June 2020. I am currently involved in several projects applying metabarcoding to investigate bacterial communities in biological samples of stool samples of anorexic patients and Healthy controls to investigate the role of microbiome in the development of disease. Similarly, I am investigating fecal and skin microbiome in Bullous Pemphigoid patients. I am currently involved in 3 projects involving the use of animal models to i) evaluate the possibility to treat IBD patients with anti-TNF-alpha therapies (gnotobiotic WT vs IL10KO mice); ii) study the evolution od an E.coli strain in an IBD model (germ-free WT vs IL10KO mice); and iii) evaluate the potential of different therapies in anorexia nervosa (in gnotobiotic rats).
