Dr Kröger has chaired and been a President of the Scientific Council of the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) and has been Chairman of the Chronic Malignancies Working Party (CMWP). He has also been a Board Member of the German Stem Cell Transplantation Group.

Dr Kröger’s research focuses on clinical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), the identification and management of measurable residual disease (MRD), and the comparison of outcomes of CAR-T therapy versus HSCT. His work also explores the influence of NK-cell allo-reactivity, optimizing outcomes with HLA-mismatched donors, and strategies for preventing and treating chronic graft-versus-host disease (GvHD). He places a particular emphasis on the development of conditioning regimens, specifically in the contexts of multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), and myelofibrosis (MF).
