Milan Makale

Milan T. Makale received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physiology from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, AB, Canada, in 1980, and the M.S. degree in biomedical engineering from The George Washington University, Washington, DC, USA, in 2000. He was a U.S. National Research Council Fellow with the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute, Bethesda, MD, USA, studying the radio-neurophysiology of the brain and autonomic nervous system. In 1992, he pursued neuropharmacology research with ProNeuron, Inc, Rockville, MD, USA, and subsequently, with the National Institute of Mental Health, Bethesda, MD, USA, he researched functional mapping of brain neurocognitive function. In 2001, he joined the Biomedical Engineering Department, University of California, San Diego (UCSD), La Jolla, CA, USA, and was involved with the development of implantable glucose sensors. He is currently on Faculty at the Radiation Medicine and Applied Sciences Department, UCSD. His key research interests include electrostimulation and functional recovery of radiotherapy injured brain tissue.
