Mihail A. Boyanov

Dr. M. Boyanov received his medical education at the Medical University Sofia, Bulgaria. He completed his training in Internal Medicine, and Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University Hospital Alexandrovska in Sofia. At this facility he became Associated Professor (2007) and Full Professor of Endocrinology and Metabolism (2012). He has specialized Internal Medicine in Graz (Austria, 1992), and Endocrinology and Metabolism in Cologne (Germany, 1995/96) and Paris (France, 1998). Dr. Boyanov has prepared two theses in the field of osteoporosis and bone densitometry (PhD and DMedSc degree). He participated in 175 original papers (50 in international journals, 125 in Bulgarian), 6 monographs (three on bone densitometry and three on thyroid ultrasound), and 6 textbooks. He is a member of the European Thyroid Association, the European Society of Endocrinology, the Endocrine Society. He is President of the Bulgarian Society for Clinical Densitometry and Board member of the Bulgarian Society of Endocrinology. Dr. Boyanov used to be academic editor at the Case Reports in Endocrinology; Deputy Editor of Acta Medica Bulgarica. He is still Editor of Rp Diabetes and Metabolism, and Endocrine Diseases (in Bulgarian); as well as editorial board member of 2 other Bulgarian journals. His major interests are in the field of thyroid diseases (thyroid diagnostics, autoimmunity), osteoporosis (focus bone densitometry) and type 2 diabetes (hypoglycemia, CV-risk).
