My lab studies the role of autoreactive B cells in autoimmune disorders, such as type 1 diabetes, at the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes (BDC) at the University of Colorado Denver. Recently I received my doctorate of veterinary medicine (DVM) degree from Colorado State University before accepting a position at the BDC. Previously I completed my PhD in Immunology studying changes in the frequency of anergic autoreactive B cells during disease development in type 1 diabetes and autoimmune thyroid disease and the mechanisms that promote loss of B cell anergy using both human and mouse models. These studies were conducted in the laboratory of Dr. John Cambier at the University of Colorado. I am excited to continue and build upon my studies from my PhD as a junior faculty member at the BDC.
