His main research interests are in outcome prediction and complications of liver failure. He is also working on novel methods to diagnose and monitor hepatic encephalopathy, renal dysfunction, sepsis and myopathy. He also holds a PhD in Molecular Physics from the University of Strathclyde. During his doctorate he collaborated with the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena and the University of Bologna on modelling rotation and vibration of atmospheric molecules involved in ozone depletion and global warming.
