Marie-claire ten Veldhuis works at the Water Resources Group of the Water management Department at Delft University of Technology. She specialises in Hydrometeorology: interactions between rainfall characteristics and hydrological response. Her research focuses on using field observations to unravel the interactions between rainfall, atmospheric conditions and (eco)hydrological systems, across multiple scales. She is involved in the 4TU Plantenna program that aims to develop innovative sensor technology that will collect information within plants about the condition of the crop and its immediate environment (towards an ‘internet of plants’). She participates in multiple EU-funded research projects on developing innovative methods for rainfall estimation, novel approaches for multi-sensor rainfall products and development of tools for flood early-warning and crop modelling for micro-insurance.
