María Haro

Graduated in Pharmacy from the San Pablo CEU University of Madrid in 1999. She completed her doctoral thesis in the Genetics section of the same faculty, obtaining her PhD in 2008 for the thesis entitled "Genetic characterization of autochthonous strains of Microsporidia and its biological implications. Outstanding among her professional experience, she worked as laboratory technical director at SANILAB S.L, a molecular diagnostic laboratory, as well as the subsequent founding in 2004 of his own genetic diagnostic laboratory called GENYCA INNOVA, in which she ceased to provide service in 2007. Since the 2011, she has been a professor in the area of ​​Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the San Pablo CEU University, teaching classes in the subjects of Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Molecular Diagnosis, Genomics and Molecular Biology of the Degree in Biotechnology. She has also taught in doctoral courses and postgraduate courses. Since 2016, she has been the Coordinator of the CEU-ASEBIO Master's in Management of Biotechnological Health Companies, which is currently in its 8th edition. In the 20-21 and 21-22 academic years, he has coordinated and participated in a COIL carried out in the Molecular Diagnosis subject of the Degree in Biotechnology in collaboration with the UADE University (Argentina), with which the collaboration will continue. Since 2016 she belongs to the Internal Quality Commission of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and of both of them, the SubCIC of MUGEBS and the SubCIC of the Degree in Biotechnology. In relation to this degree, she actively collaborates in different promotional activities such as (AULA, JPA, etc...). In addition, she takes part of GPS program, and represents the Faculty of Pharmacy in the CEU-UNE program for the establishment of contacts and collaboration agreements with entities in the sector. Thanks to her teaching and research work at the university, in 2012 she obtained the accreditation profile as a "private university doctoral professor" by the ACAP (Agency for Quality, Accreditation and Prospective of the Universities of Madrid), which allowed her to be promoted to Attached Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in December 2015. In 2022-23 academic year, she was awarded with an Award for Outstanding Teaching Work in the Degree in Biotechnology at the CEU San Pablo University. In 2012 she did a postdoctoral stay at the University of Cambridge (Institute of Metabolic Science, The Rosie Hospital), United Kingdom, for 5 months, thanks to a Banco Santander mobility grant. During this period she trained in DNA methylation analysis and in the use of epigenetic techniques (Illumina). In addition to hers professional activity in companies in the Molecular Diagnostics sector, she has participated in different public and privately funded research projects, as well as collaborations with other groups, which has allowed her to publish 14 articles, most of them in high-impact journals such as PLoS One or FASEB among others. Thanks to this work, she has received the recognition of two sexenio research periods awarded by the CNEAI.
