Marcus S. Dahlem

Marcus S. Dahlem (Senior Member, IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from MIT, in 2011, from the Optics and Quantum Electronics group at the Research Laboratory of Electronics. He joined imec, in 2018 as Principal Member of Technical Staff in the Wave-based Sensing and Actuation Group. His current focus is on photonic integrated circuits in Si/SiN for optical switching, optical beamforming and LiDAR applications. Prior to imec, he was an Associate Professor and the Director of the Center of Excellence on Integrated Photonics, the Khalifa University of Science and Technology (Abu Dhabi), which he joined in 2011 as an Assistant Professor. In 2008, he worked with IBM Zurich Research Laboratory, in the Exploratory Photonics group. Between 2003 and 2011. he worked as a Research Assistant with MIT, and in 2003 and 2005, he was also a Teaching Assistant. From 1999 to 2002, he served as a Laboratory Instructor in the Physics Department, the University of Porto (Portugal), and as a Researcher with the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering (INESC) of Porto. He is a Member of OSA and SPIE, and has served as reviewer of several optics and photonics journals.
