Marcio W. Paixao

I graduated in Industrial Chemistry (2003) from the Federal University of Santa Maria, where I finished my PhD in Chemistry in 2007. After a post-doctoral period in the Institute of Chemistry of the University of São Paulo, I became a post-doctoral fellow in the University of Aarhus (Denmark), in the group of Prof. Karl Anker Jörgensen with a scholarship from the Danish National Research Foundation. In the end of 2009, I was awarded financial support from FAPESP within the Young Researchers Program to carry out research activities in Organocatalysis at the Department of Chemistry of the Federal University of São Carlos, where I became a faculty member (adjunct professor) in 2010. My research interests are centered on asymmetric synthesis, with emphasis on the development of new organocatalysts and new synthetic methodologies. In 2012 I was a visiting professor in the Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) – Laboratory of Prof. Carlos F. Barbas III.
