Career Trajectory
Bio
Maja Krivokuća received the B.E. degree (Hons.) in computer systems engineering from the University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand, in 2010, and the Ph.D. degree from the same university in 2015. The focus of her Ph.D. research was on developing a new and improved algorithm for the progressive compression of 3D mesh geometry, using redundant dictionaries and sparse representation techniques. Since then, she has been with Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories, Cambridge, MA, USA, researching new methods for compressing large-scale 3D point clouds obtained from Mobile Mapping Systems; with 8i Wellington, New Zealand, researching and developing new shape compression algorithms for 3D point clouds in virtual/augmented reality applications, and with INRIA, Rennes, France, researching new compression algorithms for plenoptic point clouds as part of the SIROCCO research team and the Computational Light Fields Imaging Project. She is currently with InterDigital, Rennes, France, working on future 3D mesh and point cloud coding standards. She was also actively involved in contributing to the emerging MPEG Point Cloud Compression standards (notably G-PCC). Her main research interests include data compression and information theory, and also signal and image processing.
