Maria Paola Sassi

Maria Paola Sassi was born in Torino, Italy in 1953. She received the degree in physics from the University of Torino in 1978 and the Ph.D. degree in metrology from the Politecnico di Torino in 1987. Since 1979, she has been with the Istituto Elettrotecnico Nazionale “Galileo Ferraris” and, since 1981, with the Istituto di Metrologia “Gustavo Colonnetti” of the Italian National Research Council. Her principal activity in 1981–2000 was in optical frequency/wavelength standards in the mid-infrared and in optical frequency measurements. In recent years, her interest has been in metrology in chemistry, particularly on optical molecular and nanoparticles spectroscopy for applications to gas standards and bio-analysis.
