I obtained my BSc in Applied Mathematical and Physical Sciences at the National Technical University of Athens, in 2014 and my MSc in Astrophysics, Astronomy and Mechanics, at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2016. I defended my PhD with title "Study of populations of Galactic and Extragalactic Supernova Remnants" in April 2021 at the University of Crete/Institute of Astrophysics (Greece). My scientific interests focus on the systematic study of Supernova Remnant (SNR) populations in different galactic environments. In this context, I have introduced new diagnostics for the optical identification of SNRs based on emission lines of forbidden lines and using shock models and Support Vector Machines. In addition, I have developed an automated method for identification of SNRs, that allows the calculation of incompleteness and the construction of incompleteness corrected Hα and the joint [S II]-Hα luminosity functions. I have also derived a model for the Hα and the joint [S II]-Hα luminosity functions of SNRs. This model is based on a grid of shock simulations convolved with a distribution of ISM densities and SNR ages. This model, despite its simplicity, shows remarkable agreement with observed SNR populations and it paves the way for more realistic models of SNR populations. It can be also the base for exploring feedback processes in the interstellar medium of galaxies, by allowing the calculation of parameters such as integrated mechanical energy and momentum of SNRs.
