Dr. Klebanoff’s research focuses on the etiology and prognosis of preterm birth, the etiology and prevention of pregnancy complications, the epidemiology of female reproductive tract infections, and the effects of in utero illicit drug exposure on pregnancy and the child. He has conducted randomized trials and individual patient data meta-analyses of treatment of bacterial vaginosis to prevent preterm birth. He has also conducted studies employing a variety of designs: prospective cohort, historical cohort, case-control, case-crossover and instrumental variable.
