Briefly, my scientific record is composed by 30 published papers in peer-reviewed journals and a network of 118 co-authors, spanning from Spain to Brazil, Sweden, Australia and Portugal, among others. I have always been interested in metabolism, nutrition and bioenergetics and my research track has been centered in studying, interpreting and quantifying core metabolic pathways through elegant, robust and quantitative research, generating high value and quality data, with highly translational potential. I have extensive practice with in vitro models, namely human cell cultures and contacted with several in vivo models, from plants to birds, fish, crustaceans, rodents, baboons and humans. With more than a decade of expertise as a biochemist and I gathered an extensive practice with a wide array of analytical methods, ranging from molecular biology to chemistry techniques. My research track and advanced training courses allowed me to build a solid knowledge in data processing and statistical analysis, from simpler univariate analysis to complex multivariate analysis. Furthermore, I have introduced and supervised several students in the laboratorial practice, from undergraduate to PhD students and was responsible for managing a research lab. I am an Invited Professor at Polytechnic of Leiria and currently work as full-time Assistant Professor at University School Vasco da Gama. In here, I also perform the duties of Director of the Vasco da Gama Research Center, Scientific Advisor for the Animal Welfare Body (ORBEA) and Coordinator of the Zebrafish Bioterium. My current research interest focus mainly in metabolism, nutrition, toxicology and analytical methods.
