Leonor Patricia C. Morellato received the B.Sc. degree in biological sciences from the University of São Paulo (USP), São Paulo, Brazil, in 1982, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in ecology from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Campinas, Brazil, in 1987 and 1991, respectively. She is currently a full Professor at the Institute of Biosciences, São Paulo State University (UNESP), Rio Claro, Brazil. Her main research interests include the phenology and climate change of tropical vegetation. She has investigated the patterns of plant reproduction, pollination and seed dispersal, the influence of phylogeny on phenology, and methods in phenological research. Recently, her research has focused on the effects of anthropogenic changes on plant phenology and the consequences for nature conservation and restoration. She participated as a contributing author in the Working Group II (WGII) of the fourth IPCC report, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize 2007.
