Leandro Chiarantini received the Laurea degree in geological sciences from Firenze University, Firenze, Italy, in 1982. Since 1985, he has been actively involved in microwave and optical remote-sensing research activities for environment monitoring and soil modeling with Officine Galileo Spa, Florence, Italy, and SMA Spa, Rozzano, Italy. He is currently a Scientist with Selex ES Electro Optics Imagers/PEM Unit at Campi Bisenzio (FI), Italy, working on application requirements for new electro-optical sensors, data simulation, and image processing. His research interests include hyperspectral remote sensing, data analysis and simulation, experimental campaigns for the SIM-GA Airborne Hyperspectral Imager in the fields of environment pollution, cultural heritage, soil mapping, and security.
