Locke Spencer received the B.Sc. degree in engineering physics from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, AB, Canada, in 2003, and the M.Sc. degree in physics and the Ph.D. degree in Earth, space, and physical sciences from the University of Lethbridge, Lethbridge, AB, Canada, in 2005 and 2009, respectively. From 2009 to 2013, he was with the Cardiff University School of Physics and Astronomy, Cardiff, Wales, U.K. From 2013 to 2023, he was a Canada Research Chair (II) in experimental astrophysics with the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Lethbridge. He is currently an Associate Professor of physics and astronomy with the University of Lethbridge. He has worked on the European Space Agency Herschel and Planck space telescope missions, and specializes in instrumentation and data analysis for current and future Far-Infrared astrophysics. Dr. Spencer is a Member of the Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE), Optica, the Canadian Astronomy Society (CASCA), the International Astronomical Union (IAU), and the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA). He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Alberta.
