Andreas Kohler

Andreas is a surgeon and clinical scientist at Inselspital, Bern University Hospital, Switzerland. After graduating from medical school at Bern University, he completed basic surgical training in Switzerland and attended a prehospital trauma medicine program at the United States Special Operations Command and VCU Medical Center, Richmond, VA. He completed a basic research fellowship in the Department for BioMedical Research at the University of Bern in the field of abdominal hemodynamic physiology and liver regeneration. Andreas got his specialist training in colorectal surgery from the Clinic for Visceral Surgery and Medicine at Bern University hospital and completed fellowships in colorectal surgery at the John Goligher colorectal unit at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, UK and a robotic colorectal fellowship at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth, UK. His research focuses on perioperative abdominal hemodynamic physiology and he has a major interest in tumor biology and its implication for treatment and prognosis of colorectal cancer. He coordinates translational as well as clinically orientated research projects.
