Dr. Toussaint leads the Bio/Nano-Environmental Photonics Research Laboratory (PROBE Lab), an interdisciplinary research group focused on the development of nonlinear optical imaging techniques for quantitative assessment of biological tissues, and the use of plasmonic nanostructures for light actuation A new method for the control of substances. He is the recipient of the 2010 NSF Career Award, 2014-2015 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. MIT Visiting Associate Professor, 2015 Illinois Dean's Award for Research Excellence, 2017 Illinois Everett Award for Excellence in Teaching, and 2019 Outstanding Promotion Award. Dr. Toussaint is also a Fellow of OSA, SPIE and AIMBE, and a Senior Member of IEEE. Additionally, he served as PI and inaugural director of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Nanofabrication (nanoMFG) node at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 2017-2019.
