Eric H Kim

Eric Kim, M.D. is an academic urologic oncologist with a clinical and research focus on prostate cancer. As a urologic surgeon with fellowship training in urologic cancers, Dr. Kim has specific expertise in the clinical diagnosis and management of prostate cancer. He has published on the flawed nature of our current tools in the early detection of prostate cancer (e.g., PSA screening). Recognizing this limitation from both a clinical and research perspective, Dr. Kim is focused on improving the accurate diagnosis of aggressive prostate cancer at an early stage. Using clinical databases that he developed at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Dr. Kim has authored several studies to determine the impact of biomarkers and imaging in this clinical space. His translational research focuses on new technology in prostate cancer diagnosis and management to reduce and potentially eliminate unnecessary biopsies. Dr. Kim's clinical work also includes multiport and single-port robotic prostatectomy (radical, partial, Retzius-sparing, retropubic), robotic cystectomy with intracorporeal continent diversions, and robotic partial nephrectomy (retroperitoneal).
