个人简介
I am an Electronics engineer who is passionate about everything engineering based. I have experience working with optical fibre, particularly in the context optical fibre communications. I encountered such experience when working at Huawei technologies Botswana where I was the support engineer in survey and implementation of FTTx, FTTC and FTTH projects for Botswana Fibre networks (BoFiNet).
My passion with fibre communication systems landed me at Nelson Mandela Center for Broadband Communication (CBC) where I successfully completed my masters with cum laude. The CBC is an excellence hub in South Africa for everything to do with optical fibre. My masters was focused on design and implementation of a coherent optical fibre communication system for the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope network. Furthermore, we carried digital signal processing offline to correct for most transmission impairments. Moreover, we conducted research on generation of clock signals in the optical domain as well as security of optical networks at the physical layer.
I am now currently a PhD student at Stellenbosch University working on surrogate modelling of SKA Mid-Frequency Aperture Array (MFAA) candidate antennas. Yield and sensitivity analysis of these antennas is carried out using Polynomial chaos expansion as the basis of the surrogate model. Yield driven optimisation is also one facet of the project which we will be looking at.
